Personal Branding Digitally- The New Black!

Let’s talk about the most versatile color that matches with almost everything!

THE COLOR- BLACK!

Black has always been considered as a colour of power, rigor, strong personality and strong foundation. Although it is also considered the color of darkness and evil—well every color has its own pros and cons. You might not remember any other color when you see it on someone, but black catches your eye at least once.

For example: – You might think of throwing a professional outfit together and pretty much the color that comes to your mind is black at first and then any other, because it just clearly shines and makes you look crisp & sharp!

That’s exactly how personal branding works.

Let’s take up for an instance! You are a founder, influential, powerful and have a lot of money that can help your coming ten generations live a life without even having a job, but you the entire world doesn’t know you like they know Steve Jobs, Mukesh Ambani or Shah Rukh Khan! What will you do, when you go to a hotel and check in to a presidential suite and the hotel manager asks, MAY I GET YOUR NAME SIR?

All that money and influence go into dust because you might think it doesn’t matter, but it actually does. I am not saying that personal branding is only for the riches or to receive fame, it can be for anyone to reach up to a level where the entire world knows who exactly you are, or at least tries to know who you are!

Digital Era & Personal Branding!

Traditionally speaking, personal branding was really not necessary before the digital world came in the picture, because there was a stipulated community of every genre you know of and then there was a few people who monopolized their fields respectively gaining a world-wide fame. (For example: Mark Zuckerberg)

Today the reality is completely different, there are many players in respective fields and there is a cut-throat competition that prevails in the same. Everyone wants to be on top and digital platforms have become an easy access for everyone who wants to be seen.

Apps like LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, Threads, Twitter, etc have convened their way in people’s life. Just one click and almost everything is accessible. Influencers online have become a source of new products and services as an easy marketing technique to reach their respective audience.

What is Personal Branding in this Digital Era?

Personal branding has various meanings, but the best way to know what personal branding to go through few examples below:

  • One8 Commune: I bet not everyone knows one8 commune by brand, but knows it as the famous cricketer Virat Kohli’s brand. Every marketer starts his or her tagline as “Let’s experience Virat Kohli’s brand One8”
  • Fenty Beauty: Everyone knows Rihanna and those who know Rihanna, knows that she owns a beauty and skincare brand “Fenty Beauty”.

Following this examples, Personal branding basically means that people know the product and service you provide from your own name and not what you have named the brand.

Your name and your face make the difference and that helps you soar your product or service you launch and it soars to an easy success.

Examples of Perfect Personal Branding in India Through Digital Platforms!

Traditionally, it was not easy to launch a brand just like that, it required a lot of marketing strategies and networking. No doubt, even today launching a brand is not that easy until and unless your idea is not common or is sponsored by NASA! But digitally, if your presence is strong and a lot of people know about you- your product idea becomes cherry on the cake! Let’s go over few examples:

  • Prajakta Koli: Started as a Youtuber, took small roles in various OTT platforms, grew as an influencer on TikTok and Instagram, is now a celebrated actor starring in finely directed movies and launched herself as an author successfully.
  • Parul Garg: Already known as a celebrity makeup artist, she is known for her quirky reels on Instagram and now runs a beauty line known as “Parul Grag Beauty”.
  • Lovechild by Masaba: No doubt Masaba Gupta never needed any kind of a personal branding, but her reels, her owning a Netflix show “Masaba Masaba” are a true example of Personal Branding, even if she is a seasoned fashion designer. She has now launched her beauty line known as “Lovechild”.

Not every platform suit everyone!

While, I have mentioned what it’s like on platforms like TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, it is not necessary that you need to be the face at first and promote or post videos. There are platforms like LinkedIn, best for founders and professionals who want to present themselves professionally in a sharp and crisp manner like a black suit.

Then comes podcasts, talk shows and interviews that can help audience to understand who you are and what it means to be in your chair and make a difference as a personal brand.

These kinds of platforms are a good kickstart to throw and lime light and it also drives a good wedge for your journey ahead if you want to steal the show in the later effect by opting platforms like Instagram.

To conclude,

Now that you have stumbled upon the basics of personal branding digitally, I will be posting more blogs diving deeper in the aspects of the same. But to conclude what I have written above, Personal Branding on Digital Platforms have become a quid pro quo for everyone who already is on a mainstream journey or wants to start one!
